AGM outcome

The Annual General Meeting of the IEHF took place at 17:30 on Monday 16th April 2012 at The Imperial Hotel, Blackpool, Lancashire.

Following this, it was announced that there would be four new members to our main decision making body, Council. They are Roger Haslam who also takes over as General Treasurer, Sarah Sharples who takes on Chair of Events, Corinne Parsons and Terry Woolmer. Five other members were re-elected to a further term of office and they are Clare Pollard, Nick Taylor, Reg Sell, John Wilson and Martin Anderson.

A number of our members either stepped down as Council Officers or completed their term of office. We are very grateful for their commitment and work on our behalf. Therefore, we would like to thank Mic Porter who has been our General Treasurer for six years, John Wilson for his contribution in the Presidential roles, Ed Chandler who was Chair of Events, Tony Russell-Rose who served as our Associate representative, and Sam Cotter.

General duties of Council members

Council members are elected by Institute members. They all have a general duty to attend Council meetings to discuss Institute business and make decisions on behalf of the membership. They also have legal responsibilities as, in law, they are directors of the Institute. Some Council members also have specific responsibilities and extra duties such as being Chair of a committee, or representing a certain grade of membership such as Graduates or Associates.
