Heart of England
The Heart of England Regional Group has operated in the Midlands for a number of years. The aims of the Group are to enable networking opportunities, along with social occasions offering the opportunity to meet with fellow professionals and those with an active interest in ergonomics / human factors. Events will be held within the Midlands at various locations and will involve speakers, industrial visits and social activities. Attendance is not restricted to members or locality, but open to non-members and interested people from anywhere in the UK.
The group is set up on LinkedIn
The Heart of England SIG is now a going concern again following an exceptional turnout for a visit and presentation at Jaguar Landrover at the beginning of this summer. What was apparent was the need for this community to meet periodically with an interest in interesting, thoughtful events. It is hoped that another event will be organised before the end of the summer for the regions professionals to mix and network between themselves. For the group to become truly active within the region, we need support and participation from our members. Leading from this, we hope to generate ideas for activities and events to allow the group to build up momentum and thus more opportunities for meetings and activities. So, if you work in the midlands and have a story to tell about your work as an ergonomist then please get in touch with Stephen Burchill.
Stephen Burchill is the current group co-ordinator, taking over from Janet Saunders. Stephen is a graduate of Loughborough and Birmingham Universities and has specialised in disability ergonomics since graduating. The group is looking for interested members with a regional interest to join the steering committee to support the co-ordination of the group and to expand its activities.
